Professorship of Control and Drive Systems

Organisational unit: Professoship

Main research areas

Control systems and cybernetics are among the most challenging fields of research, both on a theoretical level and in their application.

For this reason, the Control and Drive Systems Lab at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg always takes an approach which encompasses both levels – both the basics and the experimental, applied level. Our diverse team carries out research in extremely varied application projects which are often relevant for the industry – for example in the fields of sensorless/sensor-reduced control, model predictive control, sliding mode control, model reference adaptive control, geometric control methods – as well as in controls based on fractional calculus and Lyapunov’s methods.

Particular focus is placed on applying Kalman filtering, which is implemented as an optimal state observer or parameter assessor in applications such as system identification, error detection and sensor-reduced control.

The laboratory also actively applies wavelets in its development of wavelet-based algorithms for signal processing, process monitoring and error detection.
