Seit einigen Jahren wird in den Medienwissenschaften diskutiert, ob es eine Krise der Kritik gibt und wie ihr zu begegnen wäre. Doch was genau heißt Kritik in dieser Debatte? Welche Kritik ist durch die Allgegenwart algorithmischer Prozesse
bedroht und warum? Ausgehend von der Gegenwartsdiagnose Antoinette Rouvroys, die eine neue Regierungsform der algorithmischen Gouvernementalität aufziehen sieht, analysiert dieser Beitrag die Voraussetzungen kritischen Urteilens
unter digitalen Bedingungen. Das Recht dient dabei als heuristisches Modell, an dem sich Kritik als negativ-reflektierendes Urteilen erweist, das seine eigenen Maßstäbe reflexiv zu verändern vermag.
