There are frequent complaints about the lack of reliable data on the sexual behavior of the population of the Federal Republic of Germany (Weyer, 1988). Sex sociological data are needed in order to make the prognosis about the spread of the aquired immuno deficiency syndrome (AIDS).
Obviously sexual behavior is a basic variable in considering the numerical development of a disease transmitted by sexual contacts.
The fact that an empirical sexology is almost nonexistent in the Federal Republic of Germany is connected to the destruction of the flourishing sexual science that took place during the "Weimar Republic" by the Nazis. The sexual science research only started up again in a rudimentary way after World War II.
