Die Autorin untersucht solche Praktiken aus der Perspektive der historischen Anthropologie bzw. einer kulturwissenschaftlich ausgerichteten Erziehungswissenschaft am Beispiel der Ernährung von Kindern, die zunehmend im Rahmen von Imperativen und Strategien der Optimierung gedacht wird. Dabei wird die Ernährung einer präventiven Logik unterstellt, womit die Lebensführung und eine darauf bezogene Erziehung zunehmend von Risikovermeidungsstrategien bestimmt werden.
