The article focuses on the impact of the media type (videos of one’s own teaching or of other teachers’ teaching) on teachers’ motivational-affective processes in the context of video-based professional development. The assumption the media type triggers different motivational-affective processes has not been sufficiently demonstrated. However, motivational-affective processes are essential personal determinants of effective teacher training. Therefore, an online training with both media types has been developed and carried out with 89 maths teachers. The article focuses on the importance of motivational-affective processes for teachers’ learning. Finally, the impact of the media type on motivational-affective processes of the teachers of the online training will be presented.
