Im Rahmen des Kompetenzvorhabens werden Internetbasierte Gesundheitsinterventionen (IGI) entwickelt und in die Versorgungslandschaft integriert. Damit sollen sie einen substanziellen Beitrag zu einer effektiven und effizienten Prävention und Behandlung von kostenintensiven Gesundheitsproblemen leisten.

Im Sinne einer Effektivitätssteigerung sollen die IGIs durch die systematische Nutzung neuer technischer Möglichkeiten (z.B. mobile Applikationen) weiterentwickelt werden. Aus der Perspektive der Effizienzforschung geht es um die Beantwortung der Frage, wie sich das Kosten-Nutzen-Verhältnis von IGIs für die spezifischen Anwendungsfelder optimieren lässt. Ein Beispiel hierfür ist die intelligente Kombination von computerisierbaren Interventionsanteilen mit solchen Interventionsanteilen, die von Health-Professionals betreut werden. Schließlich wird nach innovativen Lösungen gesucht, um die IGIs so in die Versorgungslandschaft zu integrieren, dass sich dadurch die Versorgung der Betroffenen mit nachgewiesenermaßen wirksamen Verfahren verbessert und Gesundheitskosten reduziert werden können.
