N2 - In diesem Beitrag werden zwei Projekte kommunaler Kulturarbeit in Deutschland und England verglichen. Anhand der Selbstdarstellungen im Internet wird rekonstruiert, wie unterschiedliche Verständnisse von Organisation, Beteiligung und Repräsentation zum Tragen kommen und wie sich dies auf die Herstellung von Öffentlichkeit auswirkt. Des Weiteren wird in der Kontrastierung der beiden Fälle herausgearbeitet, dass sowohl die zugrunde liegenden Annahmen einer Community Education als auch die damit zusammenhängenden Konzeptualisierungen von Öffentlichkeit stark divergieren, was wiederum Auswirkungen auf die Praxis kultureller Bildungsarbeit hat.In this paper, two projects of municipal cultural educational work in Germany and England are compared. Based on the self-presentations in the Internet it is reconstructed how different understandings of organization, participation and representation in cultural education come to fruition and how this affects the production of the public sphere. Furthermore, it is worked out in the contrasting of the two cases that both the underlying assumptions of Community Education and the related conceptualizations of public diverge greatly, which in turn has implications for the practices of cultural education.
