Beim Messen sollen die Kinder nicht nur den angemessenen Umgang mit Messgeräten lernen - dies allein wäre ein oberflächlicher prozduraler Vorgang, sondern messverständnis erwerben. Messen umfasst dabei in allen Größenbereichen drei zentrale Kernideen: das Auswählen einer passenden Einheit, das mehrfache sachgerechte Verwenden dieser Einheit sowie deren systematisches Zerlegen in Untereinheiten
