What is normal and what could become normality? In a time of great uncertainty, we can look hopefully towards inclusion and its utopian potential. In this article, inclusion-related images of hope are analyzed in terms of which ideas of normality shape them and what they aim to achieve in terms of theological and religious education. To this end, Jürgen Link’s theory of normalism is used to look at constructions and boundaries of normality. In addition to the critical reflection of healing narratives that bring with them hope for normalizing changes, utopias shape the discourse on inclusive religious education, in which ideas of normality are overcome. The example of an Inklusive Religionspädagogik der Vielfalt shows how necessary differentiations limit the utopia of diversity as the normal case.
