Gamification und Crowdfunding im Innovationsmanagement: Entwicklung und Einführung einer SharePoint-basierten Anwendung

In the past, many companies established innovation management as a new strategic business function. This function aims at sustaining and improving the enterprises’ competitiveness by conducting the generation, selection, evaluation and realization of product and process innovations in a systematic manner. A major challenge innovation management faces is to increase the participation of employees and external stakeholders. Both groups should be motivated to contribute to this process. In this article, we describe the iterative development, evaluation and implementation of an enterprise application for supporting the innovation management. This application is based upon the principles and concepts of gamification and crowdfunding. It uses a virtual currency, which can be used to sponsor ideas and to fund projects. The application uses Microsoft SharePoint 2013 as the technical platform. The prototype was developed and evaluated in a design research approach in four iterations. Afterwards, the prototype was further improved and the resulting application has been rolled out in whole the enterprise.
