The article presents with "Off to the playground!" a learning environment that focuses on the accessibility of school playgrounds. Following the premise that the school playground is a predestined place of informal learning, it should be barrier-free and accessible for heterogeneous users, and teachers should take care of this. Accordingly, the article justifies the identification of potential barriers as a component of professional teacher competence. It explains how such an ability can be promoted within a learning environment in the sense of example-based learning. The article ends with a presentation of selected evaluation results of a first testing and highlights the potentials and limitations of the approach before it proposes suggestions for future research.
