Die Professur wird zu gleichen Anteilen vom GIGA (German Institute of Global and Area Studies – Leibnitz Institut) und der Leuphana Universität finanziert.Der Inhaber der Professur wird in der Forschung am Afrika-Regionalinstitut (GIGA) im Forschungsbereich “Legitimität und Effizienz politischer Systeme” sowie am Zentrum für Demokratieforschung tätig sein. Zugleich wird er Lehrveranstaltungen im Bereich der Vergleichenden Politikwissenschaft an der Leuphana Universität erbringen.
