N2 - Within the framework of an empirical study, the article provides a complex competence task for the film Dr. Alemán (2008) in a 12th grade of a German high school. The aim is to show that the film as a cultural resource for interculutral learning initiates (inter-)cultural interpretations and explanations. Section 2 initially examines filma as a cultural representation in the foreign language classroom. In section 3, the empirical study and the complex task are introduced. A short synopsis of the film is gien, and the learning poetntials of the film for the Spanish as a Foreign Language Classroom are discussed. Section 4 provides the development of the task and didactic considerations for part-tasks. Subsequently, section 5 describes the method of data collection and interpretation and, furthermore, presents model preliminary results of the study.
