Raiffeisen banks are cooperative banks that are owned and controlled by their members. As not-for-profit institutions the primary goal of Raiffeisen banks is to provide credit and other financial services to promote their member's economic development and well-being. Although cooperative banks exist around the globe, the term “Raiffeisen” is only present in a limited number of countries such as Austria, Germany, Italy, Luxemburg, and Switzerland.
