In the course of planning the material procurement in industrial enterprises the question recurs regularly whether the organizational prerequisites are at all suitable to support such planning to the necessary extent. The main point of interest here is whether a reorganization of the purchasing activities, by means of either a centralization or a decentralization of these tasks in the various areas, has noteworthy effects on the total costs and earnings situation of the firm.
