The article covers the conception and development of the assessment tool for digital writing tools DigiSchreib. It is intended to support teachers in the didactically meaningful use of digital writing tools in linguistically heterogeneous German classes. It is the first instrument that deals specifically with writing tools for vocational schools. In contrast to previous instruments, DigiSchreib focuses on a didactic view that is closely linked to empirical findings and practical needs. The needs were identified with the help of a questionnaire survey (n=81) of German/communication teachers in Hamburg and Lower Saxony. The tools were evaluated with the help of a qualitative description within different categories (findings from writing empirics, user experience, didactic assessment, data protection). The writing tools analysed in DigiSchreib are recorded by means of a document collection and systematised within the evaluation tool. DigiSchreib will be evaluated with expert interviews, adapted and made freely available to teachers as OER.
