The State of Multimedia Mass-Balance Modeling in Environmental science and decision-making

Publikation: Beiträge in ZeitschriftenZeitschriftenaufsätzeForschungbegutachtet

Authors

Just over 30 years has passed since the fugacity model concept was introduced in ES&T by Mackay and Paterson. In the years since, the compartment-based mass balancing approach has evolved into an indispensible tool for understanding chemical pathways in the environment. In this Feature, MacLeod et al. reflect on three decades' work on chemical fate, bioaccumulation, and biomagnification modeling, and consider the next challenges.
