The model “phases and actions in academic text production” describes seven phases of academic text production. The idea of composing a text lies at the starting point for the entire process of text production; handing in the text marks the ending of one of the necessary processes involved in producing a text. These phases overlap and are connected by receptive and productive actions, i. e. actions that deal with the texts of others, and actions that deal with the writer's current project. Thus, academic text production turns into a project that enables the inspection of the text at certain points in time and at individual stages of work, as well as a self-reflection of one’s own writing behavior.
