Even though Inquiry-based Science Education (IBSE) has been an obligatory component of science education for more than ten years, Austrian science teachers still refrain from implementing it in their own classes. To remedy this situation, we aim at preparing future science teachers for IBSE by providing appropriate didactical courses. This contribution deals with four instructional strategies for IBSE and how they are incorporated within the didactical courses of the teacher education programme in order to support future teachers in acquiring knowledge and skill regarding IBSE
