Description

An international Master Program „Sustainable Development and Management“ shall be conjointly developed by all participating universities.

Universities participating in the project are:
* University of Lüneburg, Germany
* Open Universiteit Nederland, Netherlands
* Örebro Universitet, Sweden
* Universidad de Arte y Ciencias Sociales ARCIS, Chile
* Universidad Bolivariana, Chile
* Universidad de San Martín de Porres, Peru
* Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM-X), Unidad Xochimilco, Mexico
* Universidad Autónoma de San Luís Potosí, Mexico
* Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, Argentina

The project will further spread the principle of sustainability in the Latin-American part of the world. In addition, the implementation of this principle in Europe will be promoted.

Within the scope of this two-year project, the development of a curriculum with different modules – campus based and as internet-based distance classes – will be emphasised.

The development of an international Master Program „Sustainable Development and Management“ includes the following subtargets:
* Draft of a curriculum with different campus- and internet-based modules
* Enhancement of the didactic and methodical procedure of teaching
* Development of an internet platform to provide information

The training and education of experts in environment and sustainability related working areas of economy, administration and civil society is understood as an important objective of this project. This will create the prerequisites to make this project long-lasting and stable.

The Master Program is planned as a unitized campus-based study, completed by internet-based distance course units. In addition, it is intended to further qualify the participating teaching staff. Further targets are the application of new media and a project orientation with topics derived from the particular regional area of the participating universities, considering the problem experience of students as well as inter- and transdisciplinary questions. This working method leads to a comprehension of regional development potentials for a sustainable development.

Addressees of this program are experts in environment and sustainability related working fields, particularly in science, economy, administration and in the civil society. Another important target group is the participating teaching staff. It is intended to provide these people with the according scientific qualification. Beside these direct beneficiaries, the participating universities and their employees will get the chance for further scientific qualification. Thus, they are enabled to intensively deal with problems of sustainability and are asked – where applicable – to revise or to modernise existing courses, or to complement these with the aspect of sustainability. The benefit of the project lies in the mutual know-how-transfer between the cooperating universities. Beside this, regional incentives are expected due to the realisation of different projects, which will all together have a positive impact on sustainable development processes (on the local and regional level).
