Community-supported agriculture is discussed as a beacon of hope for the socio-eco-
logical transformation in agriculture. However, how and through which specific mech-
anisms community-supported agriculture can contribute to this transformation in
practice has not been sufficiently researched. This article attempts to address this gap
through an explorative study. The reconstructed transformative mechanism of the
solidarity-based mode of production provides information about the potential of
community-supported agriculture to contribute to the socio-ecological transforma-
tion.
