Die Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften nimmt das doppelte Leibniz-Jubiläum im Jahr 2016 (370. Geburtstag am 1. Juli und 300. Todestag am 14. November) zum Anlass, das Jahresthema 2015|16 ihrem Gründer, dem Philosophen, Mathematiker, Physiker, Historiker, Diplomaten, Politiker und Bibliothekar Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz zu widmen.

Die Veranstaltungen des Jahresthemas zeigen Leibniz als visionären Denker, dessen multidisziplinäres Gesamtwerk bis heute Impulsgeber für Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft, Politik und Gesellschaft ist. Mit dem Jahresthema blickt die Akademie aber vor allem auch weit in die Zukunft und nutzt Leibniz‘ Ideen für die Gestaltung einer Welt von morgen.
