A computer program is described which generates IUPAC names (von Baeyer names) and the corresponding numbering schemes for polycyclic hydrocarbons of any size and complexity. The program thoroughly uses constitutional symmetry which may be present. Parts of IUPAC rule A-32 had to be formulated more precisely than codified hitherto. The names and the elapsed CPU times are given for some polycycles.
