Gentelligent® Parts are components that function as storage mediums. They can record information, save it, process it and communicate it. Due to these characteristics, Gentelligent® Parts can serve as decentralized Enterprise Information System (EIS). It follows that along the product’s evolutionary process and during the utilization phase extensive potential for improving the logistic and technical processes results. This article provides insight into both the principle of Gentelligent® Parts as well as the corresponding data structure and targeted process improvements.
