This article focuses on contemporary illegal streaming practices for live sports that are realized via so-called streaming aggregation platforms. To better understand the contemporary rise and relevance of streaming-based piracy the article looks at the media history of piracy in the context of live sports broadcasting. It situates live sports piracy in a wider technological, economic and cultural framework to be able to describe the specificity of streaming piracy politics in digital network markets.
