Authors
This chapter aims to provide an overview of policy, practice, and research within the field of educational leadership and management (EDLM) in Türkiye. The first section of the chapter starts with broader background information regarding the social and cultural context of the country, before moving to a description of the national education system. We also describe the structure of individual school systems, as well as the management and leadership practices of school principals. The second section focuses on the higher education system and the emergence and development of EDLM as a field of study. In the third part of the chapter, we provide a summary of what research on educational management and leadership looks like within Türkiye. Finally, we conclude with a discussion of the (dis)connectedness of policy, practice, and research.
