The present study examined the impact of aspects of work psychology (effort-reward imbalance, overcommitment) on self-reported depressions in kindergarten educators from Germany (N = 1 933). The screening prevalence of depression was 49.8 %. Effort-reward imbalance significantly increased the likelihood of depression (OR = 3.73, 95 % CI = 2.66 - 5.25). Similar results could be found for the impact of overcommitment on depression (OR = 4.49, 95 % CI = 3.69 - 5.47). Workplace-related interventions are presented.
