N2 - This paper deals with an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF), which allows the estimation of nonlinear values of the permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM). A Sliding Mode Control (SMC) in an internal loop controls the optimal current with the estimated values of the EKF. The desired currents are calculated by a Maximum Torque Per Ampere (MTPA) strategy which works in the external loop of control.
