Description

The Center for Empirical Educational Research in Lower Saxony (ZEB) is committed to improving the state's education system. In close cooperation with other educational institutions in Lower Saxony, the ZEB works to strengthen empirical educational research.
Educational researchers from a range of disciplines, including education, subject-specific pedagogy, psychology, and sociology, but also from communication studies, political science, and economics, will systematically address current issues and questions that arise in the educational reality of our society in times of change.
With a transfer- and impact-oriented approach, their goal is to help shape the education system responsibly.
ZEB sees its role as leveraging insights from empirical educational research to inform forward-looking school and education policy. To bring about sustainable change in educational realities, it identifies opportunities and possibilities for securing and developing the quality in the education system. On this basis, researchers formulate policy recommendations.
ZEB combines high-quality research in the areas of educational measurement, educational monitoring, and educational innovation & change. These are complemented by research activities in the areas of educational trajectories and educational equity. The research findings feed directly into degree programs in education at the participating universities.
The center was founded in cooperation between Leuphana University of Lüneburg and Leibniz University Hannover.
