Description
Increasing awareness and recognition of sustainability, social and environmental management accounting (SEMA) is a joint project financed by the EU ERASMUS+ programme. Cooperation partners are the Gediz University of Izmir (Turkey; project coordinator), the University of Maribor, Slovenia, and the Centre for Sustainability Management at Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Germany.
The main goal of the project is to cooperate in developing a higher education course for sustainability, social and environmental management accounting through knowledge transfer and application of best practices developed at different universities. This helps to streamline teaching on an EU level and to raise awareness for sustainability, social and environmental management accounting for today’s student generation who will be tomorrow’s managers. An introductory course textbook will be developed and rolled out at the involved universities and beyond to strengthen sustainability, social and environmental management accounting for higher education in the EU.
CSM supports the development of course material and capabilities through knowledge transfer and research. Insights gained from the project will be shared in each country. The first multiplier event is planned in Germany in September 2016 and will be part of an international conference on sustainability accounting. Further details are available on the website of the 20th Environmental and Sustainability Management Accounting Network (EMAN) conference on “Two decades of corporate environmental and sustainability accounting – What has been achieved?”.
The SEMA project is funded by the European Union through the ERASMUS+ programme.
