Der Begriff Big Data ist heute in aller Munde und dabei so unscharf definiert, wie es Modebegriffen häufig zu eigen ist. Die Begeisterung – sowohl in Praxis als auch Wissenschaft – resultiert aus den hohen Erwartungen an das ökonomische Potenzial; wie dies realisiert werden kann, bleibt meist unklar. Der Vortrag entwickelt eine ergebnis- und handlungsorientierte Perspektive und erläutert am Beispiel von Daten aus der Online-Werbung, wie man anhand unternehmerischer Fragestellungen statistische Modelle entwickeln kann, die die Komplexität von Big Data reduzieren und die (vielen kleinen) Entscheidungen im Hinblick auf den Umgang mit (potenziellen) Kunden unterstützen können.
