N2 - In this study professional musicians or music teachers were given set-ups of new post-digital tactile musical devices, laptops, and monitor speakers. During the six-month borrowing period, they produced self-documenting videos and participated in group and individual interviews. The analyses and interpretations presented in this article are linked to findings from creativity research, studies on technosocial constellations, learning of musical instruments and questions on convergent or divergent patterns of thought and action. The article offers a theoretically and empirically legitimised model of how the illustrated processes of appropriation and use can be interpreted and visualised in terms of problem solving.
