This article presents the findings from an analysis conducted on sensitivity in gas chromatography (GC) on the basis of the complex group of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and PAH derivatives. It also addresses the question of ``Which physical property of the polar and nonpolar PAH indicates a complicated vaporization process in GC?'' A PAH standard-solution-mix containing the 16 EPA PAHs and 49 PAH derivatives is analyzed by GC-mass spectrometry, using different GC liners. The investigation shows that Henry's law constant seems to be a relevant indicator for the quality of the vaporization process during GC injection. In the final analysis, the results ultimately revealed improvements of reproducibility and reduced adsorption effects for the polar and low volatile PAH derivatives when deactivated GC liner equipment is used.
