N2 - Electronic media have become everyday tools for scientific writers at work.Computers are used for writing and as storage media, e. g. literature referencesystems. In this paper, results of an explorative study on the use of electronicmedia in scientific writing are presented. Scholars and scientists were investigatedby questionaires during the winter from 1992/93. Two results i. a. were, that computers are used more often for writing and as literature reference systemsthan paper and that the literature references were managed predominantlywith wordprocessors rather than data bases. The results are discussed in terms ofnew hypotheses with regard to the consequences of electronic media for textproductionprocesses and the use of stored data.
