Examines the question of how much the size and emitted sound level of trucks are subjectively connected, borrowing from psychological memory models. Using the pair comparison procedure, 300 college students had to rate the relative loudness of trucks whose size and sound levels were independently varied. The essential result was that smaller trucks were judged to be less loud than larger ones, when sound levels were equal.
