N2 - The scope of the contribution is the development of ecological engineering remediation measures for the improvement of the ecological and chemical status of Lake Bederkesa in the district of Cuxhaven. The lake's current situation is mainly affected by diffuse pollution through the rivers in the catchment, and in particular those rivers passing bog area. The waters are burdened with nutrient discharges, resulting from agricultural lands affected by fertilizer use, melioration measures, wind or water erosion, as well as the presence of settlements. The main rivers that contributed to the lake's impact in the recent past are the Ankeloher Randkanal, the Falkenburger Bach, the Falkenburger Randkanal and the Russengraben, as their lowlands are currently mainly used for agricultural purposes. Additionally, in the current state are observed considerable phosphorus loads which result from the extensive agricultural use of the degenerated bogs. The contribution illustrates the current baseline and action planning.
