This article focuses on the ideas that were mentioned by 12 to 14 year-old boys and girls, when they were asked about a „dream school” designed to help them to set up and maintain friendships and peer relationships. 427 adolescents answered an open-ended question at the end of the standardised questionnaire that was used in a study on Peers in Networks (PIN). The content analysis of the 1.015 wishes of the students shows that these fall into three large categories: structural conditions of the school, rhythm of the school day and quality of social relationships with peers and teachers. There are also distinct gender differences: Boys are more interested in sports and girls tend to note a good social atmosphere and a beautifully designed school.
