Research of the past 20 years has demonstrated that human and veterinary pharmaceuticals are present in the environment. In addition to the parent compounds also metabolites and other transformation products formed within treatment or in the environment have been detected. In order to overcome the shortcomings of effluent and manure treatment new active compounds were designed for complete mineralization in the environment.
