The emphasis of training-science research with wheelchair athletes has been so far on the evaluation of endurance parameters. However, it can be assumed that in most wheelchair sports the individual strength capacities of the upper extremity have a decisive influence on performance. Therefore it was the goal of the study described in this article to modify the established strength diagnostics for its use in the sport for the disabled and to evaluate the strength capacities of the upper extremity of wheelchair rugby and basketball players and to compare them with the data of strength-training-experienced physical education students.
