Description

Extrusion is one of the main areas of research of the professorship for manufacturing technology at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg. Accordingly, the extrusion press applied for is of great importance for the field of engineering sciences, both technically and structurally. From a technical point of view, it serves to intensify research activities on lightweight construction and resource efficiency and thus promotes a sustainable reduction of CO2 emissions in energy- and resource-intensive production processes in the industrial manufacture of metallic products, e.g. in the automotive and aviation industries. In structural terms, the large-scale facility applied for opens up new fields of research and cooperation at Leuphana University and promotes the transfer of knowledge to industry. It also opens up new cooperation opportunities for the location with Hamburg Technical University in the field of production engineering, and forming technology is an excellent complement to the activities in the North of Germany. The expansion of manufacturing technology thus promoted is a central component for the further development of engineering sciences at Leuphana University.
