Description

The project "English in Occupational Socialization and Professional Culture" aims at supporting students of the Bachelor's programs in Business Education and Social Education in English-language courses. The project focuses on the non-fit of specific student educational biographies, institutional expectations of the university and professional requirements of the teaching profession. It serves to develop and test a module "English in Professional Socialization and Professional Culture." The module is offered on a mandatory basis in both degree programs and includes 1 seminar (5 CPO). The placement in the programs' 2nd semester increases the chance to address the topic already in a very early phase of student's professional socialization (study entry phase). It includes (a) a scientific examination of professional educational biographies, social background and linguistic heterogeneities in schools in seminar format, (b) an accompanying consultation in office hours format especially for the requirements of English-language seminars as well as (c) a methodical-practical group workshop embedded in the seminar for self-reflective examination of concrete student experiences, scope for action and coping strategies.
