Main research areas

The main focus of the work of the Professorship for Political Science, in particular Public Policy and Law is in the area of policy field analysis, especially in the European and international context. One thematic focus is migration, asylum and border policy. Here, the professorship investigates, among other things, how democratic processes and institutions influence policies in salient policy areas and what role scientific evidence plays in policy formulation. Other focal points include the role of law and independent courts in the protection of human rights as well as the role of different power resources in international and regional decision-making processes and their influence on policies.
