The Professorship for Political Science, in particular Political Theory, covers this political science sub-discipline in its breadth and is primarily dedicated to theories of democracy and society and the history of political thought. Studies on political communication, populism and democratic opposition, processes of social transformation and inclusion, institutions and governance architectures as well as on technocracy discourses form the research focus of the chair. The aim is to alwayslinkproblem-oriented theoretical perspectives with analyses of social phenomena. Ongoing third-party funded projects deal with new forms and techniques of political address and advocacy and with semantics of renunciation.
