Description | The coronavirus pandemic has brought out the notion of collective and individual vulnerability: it reveals the (in)sufficiency of health and maintenance systems and ruins the grand narrative of globalization. In the eleventh contribution to our column “Notes from Quarantine,” artist and theorist Sofia Bempeza argues that art workers and cultural producers are directly affected by this development as state grants are divided in an arbitrary manner, intensifying social division while leaving terrain to major private institutions for shaping culture and neoliberal creativity on their own terms. |
