Ben Trott - Speaker

In this talk, Ben Trott provides a materialist account of what has become known as "cancel culture", paying particular attention to conflicts around speech and censorship when it comes to gender, sexuality and "identity". Drawing from Queer Studies, Cultural Studies and Political Philosophy, he critiques the dominant ways in which free speech has been understood in Britain and the United States, and looks at the relationship between speech and transformative projects of political organisation.
