New horizons: consumption, resources, intelligence - the retail sector provides impetus Commerce is a central component of our modern economic life. It enables us to purchase goods and services easily and makes it easier for us to improve our lives. It is also an important factor for sustainable economic development. The industry plays an important role in promoting prosperity in a modern society, but also in reducing the impact of consumption on our natural resources and the global environment: trade can make an important contribution to achieving a sustainable economy. The Retail Congress Germany therefore offers a platform to discuss the current challenges in the retail industry and to find new ways of combining trade and sustainability. We will address issues of global resource distribution, the ethics of consumption and smart technologies that help us to create a better balance between consumption and resources. We will also look at the impact of trade on the economy and jobs and discuss existing and new strategies to promote trade.
