Growth mindset interventions are effective in influencing entrepreneurial behavior and mo-tivation across all stages of the entrepreneurial process. However, the theoretical understanding of such interventions remains limited. We developed a theoretical model that combines implicit the-ory with a person-intervention fit perspective to theorize that growth mindset trait moderates the effect of a growth mindset intervention on the behavioral and motivational outcomes of active feedback seeking and entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Further, we investigated a reciprocal relation-ship between these two outcomes. We conducted a between-person field experiment over one week with 112 entrepreneurs. Growth mindset trait moderated the intervention’s effect on active feed-back seeking but not on entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Further, active feedback seeking and entre-preneurial self-efficacy were reciprocally related. Our study indicates that a person-intervention fit perspective provides insights into potential boundary conditions of growth mindset interventions. Moreover, the effectiveness of such interventions is better understood from a dynamic perspective on post-intervention mechanisms.
