This article discusses feminist critiques of representation and highlights that, while they point at important issues, they also entail essential problems. In order to avoid these problems, a self-critical feminist theory of representation is needed. This theory is characterized by two moments: negativity and difference. The article expands on these two moments and shows how they can be transferred into feminist politics.
