Description

Based on the Creative Space concept (open, project-based experimental spaces in technologically complex research areas such as artificial intelligence for all Leuphana students), we want to use this project to set up a Creative Space. It will be essential for students of all disciplines to engage with these key technologies. Basic AI skills and data literacy in this area will be helpful or even necessary for all disciplines in the future, while at the same time, students rate the range of courses on offer for AI transition skills as rather poor. Leuphana addresses this (DataX, Minor AI, complementary studies), but there is a lack of a place that is open to experimentation and can serve as a first point of contact and advice center for students, integrating skills and teaching modules.
Leuphana (DataX, Minor AI, complementary studies), but there is a lack of a place that is experimentally open, can serve as a first point of contact and consultation for students, and integrates skills and teaching modules across disciplinary boundaries.
The Creative Space is based on three basic principles to support the free, self-determined, and joyful
design of learning and creative experiences for students.
• Boundary objects as objects for debate: artifacts that can be interpreted differently by different disciplines
and therefore promote discussion and interdisciplinary
communication. They serve as a common point of reference to bridge
different perspectives and thus promote exchange and understanding.
• Improvisation and curiosity-driven research: This approach focuses on playful
and exploratory discovery. Instead of strictly adhering to predetermined methods
or results, students are encouraged to gain new insights and develop innovative projects through spontaneous ideas and their own
curiosity.
• Strict inter- to transdisciplinarity: By incorporating knowledge and methods from
different disciplines, a more comprehensive and flexible approach to problem solving is enabled.
Transdisciplinarity even goes beyond disciplinary boundaries and integrates non-academic
forms of knowledge in order to develop practical and comprehensive solutions to complex issues.
