Description

Lower Saxony and Scotland combine complementary strengths in renewable energies, AI, mobility, life sciences, and agricultural research. Since 2019, ECAS has served as a central platform for academic exchange, originally between Leuphana University and the University of Glasgow, later expanded through an MoU between LHK and the University of Scotland. Since 2020, programs such as the Lower Saxony–Scotland Joint Forum and the Tandem Fellowship Program have been established, complemented by initiatives such as the MWK's Scotland Initiative. ECAS promotes research, mobility, and knowledge transfer and establishes Scotland alongside Israel as a priority region for Lower Saxony's scientific cooperation. The aim of the funding project is to strengthen ECAS structurally and consolidate it as a central cooperation hub for all universities in Lower Saxony in order to implement the MoU, which will be renewed in 2024, and expand long-term partnerships.
